Galveston

So, the last post was when we went to Galveston on August 31st. That is eleven days before Hurricane Ike hit. We had a great time and Emily LOVED the water and learned to like the sand. Anyway, I got to thinking how she got to see the beach and eat at the ice cream place on the Strand just before Ike. If we went today it would not be the same place. Kind of sad to realize that. I remember going to Galveston and eating at the same ice cream shop (La Kings) with my parents. I hope they can recover and open back up. My prayers go out to those who suffered from Ike.

Baby Ducks

We started feeding the ducks in our neighborhood and found out that one had babies. So, we started going each week to watch them grow up. Here they are in three stages and then..... We found another bunch of babies. We plan to watch them grow up too. They are so cute!

Dog Bite.

When I went back to work, I was taking Emily with me to walk dogs. Well, we had a little accident. One of my clients dogs got Emily in the face when they were playing ball. It was an accident, the dog is very sweet. Unfortunately is was pretty bad for Miss Em. She had to get stitches and that was not fun. Here she is after the stitches. Don't worry everything looks fine now, and she still plays with the dog!

Emily has started to show interest in helping around the house now. She loves to help me load the dishwasher, do laundry and even vacuum. I was vacuuming the other day and she wanted to help so bad. She couldn't really push the big vaccum, so I got out the dust buster for her. She LOVED it! Here she is, mt big helper.

We went to my nephews graduation dinner this weekend. I can't believe he is going to college now! We are so proud of him, and he is going to be an AGGIE. Whoop! Anyway we got some great pics of the the kids. They are so cute and growing up way too fast :)

Well, Miss Emily has moved on to a toddler bed! She had started climbing out of her crib and greeting me in the morning with a smile DOWNSTAIRS. So, we decided it was time for the toddler bed. We were a little concerned with how she would do, and how many times she was going to get up. Last night was the first night, and she was WONDERFUL. We put her to bed, read a book and said a prayer closed the door and waited. Waiting....Waiting.... waiting...NOTHING. I go in to check on her and she was out. We are sooo lucky to have such ans angel.

We went to Dallas this weekend for our Godson's baptism. The Gateley's live in Portland, so we don't get to see them very much. They have family in Dallas, so we got to stay with them all weekend! We had a great time visiting with everyone!

Emily and I went to a spa day at our church today. We had a great time. Emily got to have her nails painted, feet massaged, and she got to make jewelry. She had so much fun!!! They had a bathtub filled with balloons for pictures. She LOVED playing in it as you can see.

We went to a pajama breakfast this morning at our church. Emily had a great time eating pancakes, making a snowman ornament and playing on the play ground. However, she was a little scared of Santa. She walked right up to him and smiled, but as soon as we put her in his lap she changed her mood.

We went to the park this weekend and had a great time! Emily loved crawling through the tunnels. We played for a while and then we went and feed the ducks. the ducks were great. They followed us around the lake, we had about 20 if them on our heels!Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Emily went trick or treating for the first time, and had a great time. She figured out that she got a lot of attention and would put on a show for each house. Every time she got candy, she would put a death grip on it and would not let Mommy take it! Enjoy!

We carved Emily's first pumpkin tonight! She started off curious and intrigued as usual, but she was having no part of putting her hand all the way down in that slimy pumpkin. She was of course enthralled with putting the top back in place. She left the carving to Daddy, but once it was finished, she was highly entertained and even decided to chew on a piece!

I found this really neat place to take Emily, called Beyond Bounce. It's basically an indoor playground. They have the large air filled bouncers and slides. We had so much fun!! We went with Mindy and Payten. The best part (besides being inside) is that the parents can play too!

We went to Dewberry Farm in Brookshire this weekend. The weather was amazing! Emily had a blast. She got to pick her first pumpkin! She also tried a caramel apple and kettle corn for the first time and loved it.

We went to the Houston Zoo this weekend. The weather was great and all the animals were out. Emily got to pet some goats! She thought that was pretty neat. The coolest thing was the tiger we saw. He was out for a morning swim. So cool!

Portland Trip!

Emily and Mommy made a trip to Portland to visit friends and family. This was her first trip on a plane! She was such a trooper. Everyone on the plane said she was great and they of course all knew her name at the end of the flight! The weather was wonderful!!!! We went to a farm and picked raspberries. Emily got to go and see the Pacific ocean for the first time. She had never seen sand and it took a while to like it. Enjoy the pics.

This weekend Adam's "Old Lady" (roommate in the Corps) from college and his wife Christine came into town. She had never been to Houston before so we lined up a weekend of cooking out, the natural science museum, and then Saturday night went to the Astros game. We had great seats on the first base line - out of danger, but fly balls were landing all around us. It was fun until I predicted Lidge would blow the game, which of course he did. What a downer. But, they loved the A/C at Minute Maid Park and had a great time. On Sunday, we invited Noah (another Corps buddy) over for lunch. It was a great weekend. As you can see in the pics, Emily loved both of them. Now she's met her Redneck and African "uncles" (literally - Eric is from Maud, TX and Noah is from Eritrea, Africa).

We went to New Mexico with our good friends, The Gateleys. We drove 16 hours total each way. It was a long drive for Miss Emily, but she was a trooper. We had a great time, even though the whole cabin ended up getting a stomach bug. Here are some pics to enjoy!

Well, it seems Miss Emily is growing up way too fast. She is now 6 months old! She can now roll over, speak baby, eat baby solids, grabs everything in sight, scoots across the room, sit up, and she can now hold her sippy cup!!!

Gymboree Class

Emily started a Gymboree class today and we had a blast. It's a program that encourages your child's development and helps you understand it. We sang songs, played on mats and gyms, and did boogie moves. We look forward to next week!

Zoo Day

We went to the Zoo today with some friends from church. The weather was perfect and most of the animals were out. Emily really liked the elephants and giraffes. We even got to see the baby elephant! He was so cute. I was a sucker and joined the Zoo club so we can go free for a year. So let us know if you want to go!

Today I decided to start a blog about Emily and I. I thought it would be fun to log some of our days together and all the new adventures she has each day. Hopefully I will keep up with it!

Today was a rainy and nasty day so we did NOTHING! Actually we did watch some Baby Einstein and took naps. Sounds fun! Tomorrow will be a better day to blog about. We are going to the Zoo!
